Learning at Summer Camp
When possible, Region 7 Education Service center provides eligible WISD gifted and talented students with the opportunity to attend a summer camp. Students have to go through an application process where they are required to write an essay expressing how the camp fits into their personal goals. Several WISD students have been awarded this opportunity over the last few years. Some of our recent students are featured below.
Zoe had the opportunity to attend the Texas A&M Youth Adventure Program Forensics Camp. She became friends with her roommate and received the Director's Reward. Zoe shared the following feedback about her experience at the camp. "The Bio/Nano Technology course I took there is something I would've never been able to do otherwise. Taking that course has opened many doors to my future that I had never considered before, and I am seriously considering getting a Bio/Chem major in the future because of this camp."
Katelyn had a blast while attending the Texas A&M Galveston Adventures in Marine Biology Sea Camp. She had the opportunity to dissect fish, hold a variety of sea creatures, meet new friends and learn all about marine life while in Galveston.
