Dr. Carolyn J. Booker has served as a member of the Westwood ISD School Board of Trustees since May 1995 in the   capacities of president (12 years), vice-president and secretary.  She is a graduate of the Class of 2008 Leadership TASB (Texas Association of School Boards) and has earned the distinction of being a Master Trustee. She has served as a member of the Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members, TASB Legislative Advocacy Network and appointed by TASB to serve as a representative from Congressional District V in the Federal Relations Network. She is a retired Sr. Project Management Analyst for the NASA Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility. Currently CEO at CarolynBooker.Com. She holds a Doctor of Business Administration degree in Management from Argosy University/Sarasota, Florida, a Master of Business Administration degree, and Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from LeTourneau University/Longview. She and her husband, Charles of 45 years, have two children. Charles Booker, son (Class of 1997) and Crystal Booker Clark, daughter (Class of 1998) both are graduates of Westwood High School.

Jeff Cooper is a graduate of the 1998 class of Westwood High School. Jeff was involved in Baseball, FFA, and Academic Decathlon teams during his 12 years at Westwood. After his years at Westwood, Jeff graduated from Kilgore College Fire Academy and received his EMT-Intermediate at TVCC. Since December of 1999, Mr. Cooper has been employed as a firefighter, with the Palestine Fire Department and currently holds a Master Firefighter, HazMat Technician, Instructor 1, and Driver-Operator certifications with the Texas Commision on Fire Protection. Mr. Cooper has completed year 1 of the Texas Fire Chiefs Academy and currently serves as the President of the Palestine Firefighters Association since 2008. Mr. Cooper is proud of his family's heritage at Westwood, His sister is a 1989 graduate, Brother a 1992 graduate, his Father Bill Cooper served as a Board Member and both Mom and Dad were highly active in the Athletic Booster Club for many years. His 3 kids also attend Westwood, Alton(11th), Hope(8th), and Austin(6th). Jeff enjoys serving his community and spending time with his wife Jayme and their kids.
 

Angela ChoateMrs. Angela Choate - Member

Angela Choate was born and raised in Palestine, Texas and is a proud 1999, 12 year graduate of Westwood ISD. Angela was involved in Track, Choir, and the Drill Team. She attended Trinity Valley Community College. Mrs. Choate has been married to TJ since 2002 and they have two sons that go to Westwood ISD.  She tries to attend everything she can to support Preston (8th) and Landon (3rd) in their school activities. Mrs. Choate has worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice since 2000. She is currently at the Regional Director’s Office as the Regional Business Manager.  Mrs. Choate has over fifteen years in Accounting and Business. She loves hunting, fishing, and UTV riding with her family and friends every chance they get. Angela cherishes every adventure and all the time they spend on the road, at the Baseball Parks and any other activity with both her sons. Angela enjoys serving her community in any way that she can and loves spending every minute she can with her husband, kids, and family. Angela was sworn in on January 28, 2021 and hopes to help and support Westwood in any form or fashion that she possibly can.

Mike Kelly is a long-time Palestine resident, having graduated from Palestine High School in 1971.  He attend Henderson County College studying Ranch Management. Mr. Kelly retired from Westwood ISD in 2015 after serving our district for 15 years.  He has been married to his wife Bonnie for 43 years, and son Chris is a WHS graduate.  Mr. Kelly's daughter, Amy Camp, teaches at Westwood Primary.  Mr. Kelly is a member of the Palestine City Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, the Palestine City Charter Review Commission, and the Anderson County Master Gardeners Association.  He is a Certified Texas Master Gardner and has assisted the Primary with their garden for years.

  Leonard Armstrong was born and raised in Palestine, Texas and graduated from Westwood ISD in 1971.  He graduated from United Electronics Institute in Dallas in 1973 with a degree as an Electronic Technician.  Mr. Armstrong retired after 35 years with the local phone company specializing in business systems.  He is a member of Sheridan Terrace   Baptist Church, has been active with the Palestine Community Theatre for 38 years, and loves hunting and being in nature.  Leonard Armstrong has been married to 1974 Westwood alumni, Susan Armstrong, for 44 years.  He is a father of three:  Leonard G. Armstrong, Jr., Patrick Armstrong (2000 Westwood alumni), and Daylene Armstrong Collette (2001 Westwood alumni).  Leonard is a grandfather of three: Megan, Brent and Jaxon and one grandbaby on the way!

Mr. Ronnie Stanhope is a 1983 graduate of Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas, where he was active in sports.  He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock after graduation. Ronnie has been employed by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice since 1994. Ronnie and his wife Edna have three children, Aaron graduated from Westwood High School in 2011, Courtney graduated from Westwood High School in 2014, and Kaylie currently attends Westwood Elementary.  Mr. Ronnie Stanhope was sworn in as a WISD board member on May 12, 2014.
